CTH

The Center for Thrombosis and Hemostasis (CTH) is one of eight model centers funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the national program "Integrated Research and Treatment Centers (IFB)". The objectives of this program are to create an attractive environment for cutting-edge clinical research, better career options for young scientists and a high quality of patient-centered research.

The aim of CTH is to improve the research and treatment of thrombosis and hemostatic disease. Through exemplary, interdisciplinary and integrative structures, a national reference center was set up in the first FP. The translational link between basic scientists and clinicians stimulates innovative principles of diagnosis and treatment. A structured junior research program has created attractive career paths at the interface of science and clinic, which are also available in the second FP. The CTH promotes sustained specialization in thrombosis / hemostasis in Mainz and, moreover, an area that is both clinically and experimentally highly interdisciplinary.

He has published over 210 papers in peer-reviewed journals with a cumulative impact factor of almost 1,000 and over 9,000 personal citations, and more than 25 book chapters. He has designed and coordinated, and/or has been principal investigator of several high-impact national and international multicenter trials, 7 of which have been published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
