INNOVTE

Endorsed Studies:

INNOVTE is a national network composed of CHUs, CHGs and private clinics engaged in clinical research on venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, grouped around 12 Clinical Investigation Centers, four INSERM units, a reception team and a Biological Resource Center. Our research topics include therapeutic venous thromboembolism, but also diagnostic and prognostic aspects using biomarkers. The presence of several translational research teams also allows us to address more fundamental research questions.

Council Members

Francis Couturaud

Francis Couturaud, MD, PhD

Francis Couturaud is currently Clinical Professor of Respiratory Medicine at Brest University and Head of Department of Respiratory Medicine at Brest University Hospital Center in Brest, France.

He is the director of the research unit “GETBO-EA3878”, dedicated to clinical research and basic science in venous thromboembolism.

He is a member of the French INvestigation Network On Venous Thrombo-Embolism (INNOVTE), a labellised F-CRIN network promoting translational clinical research and European clinical studies on venous thromboembolism.

Dr Couturaud is involved in clinical research on the diagnosis, epidemiology and treatment of pulmonary embolism. He has been involved in many studies on pulmonary embolism published in major journals, especially the PADIS-PE, PADIS-DVT, PEITHO, PREPIC-2, MVTEP trials.

The optimal duration of anticoagulation in patients with venous thromboembolism, particularly in cases of unprovoked venous thromboembolism, is one of his main fields of interest. He is currently conducting the RENOVE trial, a large multicenter randomized controlled trial comparing long term direct oral anticoagulant therapy at full dose versus low dose in patients with venous thromboembolism at high risk of recurrence.

Laurent Bertoletti

Laurent Bertoletti , MD, PhD

Laurent Bertoletti is Medical Doctor and Professor of Medicine in the University Hospital of St-Etienne (CHUSE), France.

He graduated as a chest physician in the faculty of Medicine of St-Etienne, France.

After a fellowship in the department of Pr Gerald SIMONNEAU (Paris), he created and developed the pulmonary hypertension program of the University Hospital of St-Etienne.

After a post-doc in the “Angiology and Haemostasis” department of Pr H Bounameaux (Geneva, Switzerland), he moved to the Vascular Medicine department of the CHUSE, department he leads since several years.

His current researches focus on the management of vascular diseases, with a specific attention to anticoagulant therapy in patients with pulmonary vascular diseases. He is highly involved in clinical research in venous thromboembolism via the French INNOVTE network with interaction in basic sciences (via the INSERM U1059 SAINBIOSE). He is the national coordinator of the RIETE registry , and the co-coordinator of the French INNOVTE network (with Pr Francis COUTURAUD, Brest, France). In 2021, he has been elected chairman of the “Pulmonary Embolism” sub-assemble of the European Respiratory Society, a large scientific society, which spans over 160 countries, prioritizing science, education and advocacy to promote lung health.

He authored more than 250 references on Pubmed.
