Dear Members & Colleagues,
The network is now accepting applications for the Spring 2021 INVENT Kickstarter Awards - funding intended to help Principal Investigators of INVENT Endorsed Studies initiate new international study sites in INVENT Network Member countries.
The network established the competition with the support of partnership funding in an effort to help facilitate international collaboration in clinical VTE research by enabling start-up activities that are not covered by primary funding.
Competition Details
Amount: Up to $20,000 (CAD) . There is $40,000 (CAD) available in funding for this competition.
Eligible expenses:
- Research Ethics / Institutional Review Board Fees
- Study Insurance
- Salary for personnel to prepare regulatory applications, introduce the study to local staff, liaise with local departments and prepare local study documents
- Central meeting costs
Ineligible expenses:
- Salary support for investigators and travel-related costs.
Eligibility: Principal investigators of INVENT Endorsed Studies are eligible to apply. (Not Endorsed? Don't worry! See below). Both the principal investigator and a collaborating (lead) investigator at another INVENT Network Member country must be named on the application.
During each award cycle, a principal investigator may only submit one application for a Kickstarter Award. Those who have submitted previous applications, both successful and unsuccessful, are eligible to apply to subsequent award calls.
Have a clinical VTE study not yet endorsed by INVENT? You are eligible to apply, however an application for Study Endorsement must be completed concurrently and sent along with the Kickstarter Award application. The Kickstarter Award application will only be considered if the study is approved for Study Endorsement. Applicants are encouraged to read about new changes to the Study Endorsement Policy & Procedures Documents that specify the types of study the network aims to endorse.
Application Deadline: April 5, 2021.
Award Funds: Award funding will be sent directly to the collaborating (lead) investigator at the new participating international site, to be applied towards their start-up costs.
Award Selection: Applications will be reviewed by peer reviewers with no direct conflicts of interest.
