September 2, 2024 – The INVENT-VTE Network is pleased to announce that theTRIM-Line Study, led by Dr. Marc Carrier, and the HIPSTER Study, led by Dr. Federico Germini, have been endorsed and awarded international expansion funding in this year's network Dragons' Den Competition in Bangkok Thailand at ISTH 2024.
Dr. Marc Carrier claimed the top "International Collaboration prize" of $40,000 in study expansion funding for the TRIM-LINE study: Primary Thromboprophylaxis in Patients with Malignancy and Central Venous Catheters." Dr. Carrier, a member of the CanVECTOR Network in Canada, will expand the trial into the INNOVTE Network in France, collaborating with Dr. Isabelle Mahé. The proposal demonstrated exceptional potential to advance VTE research and aligns with INVENT-VTE’s commitment to supporting high-impact studies.
The runner-up, Dr. Federico Germini, was awarded $20,000 for the HIPSTER study: Rivaroxaban Plus ASA Versus Standard of Care for Arterial and Venous Cardiovascular Prevention After Hip Fracture Surgery." Dr. Germini, also a member of the CanVECTOR Network in Canada, is working to expand his study into the TRIP Network in Italy in collaboration with Dr. Corrado Lodigiani. The HIPSTER study was recognized for its significant promise and contribution to the field. Both studies have received official endorsement from the INVENT-VTE Network, underscoring their value and potential for meaningful advances in thrombosis research.
